The short answer
In some countries, yes: you are charged in pounds, euros and other local currencies. In India you pay rupees. Everywhere else you pay US dollars, with an approximate local figure beside the total.
What you are charged in
Rupees
India
Local currency
UK, euro countries and others
US dollars
Everywhere else
Which currency you are charged in follows the country on your account (or, if your account has none, the country your internet connection points to).
- India: Indian rupees.
- United Kingdom: pounds sterling.
- Euro countries: euros, for Germany, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece.
- Other local currencies: Swiss francs (Switzerland), Canadian dollars (Canada), Australian dollars (Australia), New Zealand dollars (New Zealand), Singapore dollars (Singapore), UAE dirhams (United Arab Emirates) and Saudi riyals (Saudi Arabia).
- Everywhere else: US dollars.
What you see at checkout
In a local currency, the price you see is the price your card is charged. It is set by us in that currency, not converted at the moment you pay.
If you pay in US dollars and your own country has its own currency, the total may show an approximate local figure beside it. It is only a guide: your bank sets the final rate, and the charge is the dollar figure.
If the country is wrong
Change the country in your portal under Settings; see How do I change my name, email, country or password?. The country can be changed only once in a while, and an order you have already placed keeps the price it was made with.
A discount code with a fixed amount off cannot be used on a local-currency cart; a percentage code can. See How do I use a discount code?.
Is the currency at checkout wrong?
Does the country on your account match where you live?
Yes
The currency is correct for your country. Pay as shown.
No
Change the country under Settings, then check out again.
