Electrical Control Panel Design, Building and Testing

What is inside a PLC panel and why, components, wiring diagrams, 2-wire and 3-wire control, sensors and commons, building a UL 508A panel step by step, workmanship, cooling and factory acceptance testing.

  • Name every part of a PLC control panel and what UL 508A covers
  • Choose relays, contactors, overloads, transformers and terminal blocks, and state the SCCR
  • Read a PLC wiring diagram and wire 2-wire and 3-wire control

ETAP Power System Analysis: Load Flow, Short Circuit, Protection, Arc Flash and Stability

The power-system studies every substation, plant and data-centre project needs, done in ETAP: single-line modelling, load flow and the per-unit system, cable and transformer sizing, short circuit by IEC 60909 and ANSI, relay setting and coordination with Star view, differential, distance, busbar and motor protection, arc flash, capacitor placement and power factor, motor starting and re-acceleration, transient stability, harmonics and filters, and earthing grid design.

  • Model a network in ETAP with nameplate data and run load flow
  • Size cables and transformers and use tap changers
  • Run IEC 60909 and ANSI short circuit and select breakers by device duty

Electrical Design Engineering: Loads, Cables, Breakers and Distribution

How a building or plant electrical system is designed on paper before anyone buys a cable: AC and DC fundamentals, star and delta, power factor, connected and demand load, diversity and demand factors, load estimation in Excel, reading drawings, power factor correction, panel boards and single-line diagrams, fuses and circuit breakers with trip curves, AF and AT and breaking capacity, cable construction, derating, sizing and voltage drop, conduits, fault level, earthing systems, UPS, transfer switches and lightning protection.

  • Revise AC, DC, star, delta, power and power factor
  • Estimate loads with demand, diversity and load factors and build a load schedule
  • Size capacitor banks and draw panel single-line diagrams

Electrical Fundamentals for Technicians: Volts to Multimeter to Drawings

The electrical basics every technician needs, in the order you use them: charge, voltage, current and resistance; Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws; AC and DC, single and three phase; power, energy and power factor; the multimeter and CAT ratings; cables, fuses, breakers, earthing and RCDs; IEC and NEMA symbols and schematics; relays, contactors and motors; safe isolation; and a fault-finding walkthrough.

  • Explain voltage, current, resistance and charge, and use Ohm's law
  • Solve series and parallel circuits and check readings with Kirchhoff's laws
  • Work with AC, RMS, single-phase and three-phase supplies

Data Centre Electrical and Critical Power

The electrical side of data centres, where the hiring is: the power path from grid to rack, tiers and redundancy, UPS and generators, the calculations, load flow, short-circuit and arc flash studies, PUE, monitoring, and what AI GPU racks change.

  • Trace data centre power from the utility to the rack
  • Compare N, N+1 and 2N redundancy and the Uptime Institute tiers
  • Calculate rack current, kVA and kW for single and three-phase feeds

Infrared Thermography Training

A short, practical foundation in thermal imaging for plant work: what the camera actually measures and what it never sees, emissivity and reflected apparent temperature, loaded electrical surveys and three-phase comparison, motors and bearings and couplings, building envelope and lagging and moisture, solar PV hot cells and substrings, and the route survey and written finding that turn a pretty picture into a work order.

  • Set emissivity and reflected apparent temperature, and recognise when a shiny surface has made a reading worthless
  • Plan a loaded electrical survey, record load and ambient with every image, and work safely with an authorised electrician
  • Classify a hot joint by comparing it with the same connection on the other two phases

Questions

Is this for electricians or engineers?
Both. It starts from reading drawings and ends at testing a finished panel.
Do the electrical courses need a workshop?
No. Panel building and motor control are taught from real panels and drawings in the videos, with practice in free CAD and simulation tools; wiring on a real panel comes with the paid programme.
