Two kinds

Technical AI or AI for your field?

Both kinds are free and both start from the first idea. The difference is what you do with the tools.

Technical AI

You learn how the tools work. You clean data, train and test a model, build a workflow or teach a computer to see.

Who it suits

Students of computer science, IT, data science, electronics and mechatronics, or anyone who likes to try things in a notebook.

AI for your field

You learn what an assistant can do in your own work, where it makes things up, and where a person must decide. Each is named for a profession.

Who it suits

Students of commerce, management, HR, marketing, pharmacy and healthcare, and project managers. You need a chat assistant and a spreadsheet.

Pick by your course

Which AI internship suits my course?

A suggestion for where to start. You can plan any of them.
Which AI internship to start with, by course
If you studyStart withWhy
Computer science, IT, data science and AI studentsAI and Machine Learning InternshipYou can run a notebook, so start with machine learning, then data science. Python runs in free notebooks.
Electronics, electrical and mechatronics studentsComputer Vision InternshipCameras and quality inspection link to machines you may already study. AI Agents and Automation also fits.
Commerce, accounting and finance studentsAI for Finance and Accounting InternshipSpreadsheets, ratios and month-end tasks, with an assistant that drafts and a person who checks.
Management, HR and psychology studentsAI for HR and Recruitment InternshipRole descriptions, interviews and onboarding, with fairness and privacy in every week.
Marketing, media and communication studentsAI for Digital Marketing and Content InternshipContent that still sounds human, search, social media, ads and a campaign plan.
Pharmacy, life science and healthcare studentsAI in Healthcare and Pharma InternshipAdmin, documents, literature and quality work, never diagnosis, and never any patient data.
Project and engineering management studentsAI for Project Management InternshipCharters, schedules, risks, minutes and status reports, and where AI estimates fall short.
Anyone who is not sure yetGenerative AI and Prompt Engineering InternshipHow language models work and how to ask better questions. No programming.

Coding

Do I need to code for an AI internship?

It depends on the internship. Only some of them use code.
  • No programming: Generative AI and Prompt Engineering, and the five internships named for a profession. You use a chat assistant and a spreadsheet.
  • Little code: AI Agents and Automation builds workflows in n8n, where much of the work is dragging and connecting steps.
  • Some Python in a free notebook: AI and Machine Learning, Data Science and Analytics, and Computer Vision. The notes start from the basics.

Inside a week

What does a week of an AI internship look like?

  1. Read a short lessonShort notes with a diagram. A few weeks have a video.
  2. Take the easy weekly checkFive questions. The right answers are shown and you can retry.
  3. Do the worked exerciseTry it on invented data in a free tool, then compare with the good result the course gives.
  4. Finish with week 8 and the final quizWeek 8 pulls the course together, often into a small piece such as a playbook, a report, a prompt library or an agent. Then you take the final quiz.

Who wrote it

Who wrote the AI internship courses?

OFORO, the Wartens AI company, wrote the notes and exercises. OFORO builds the AI behind Wartens' engineering and training work. The internships are run by Wartens Ltd (UK) and delivered through EDWartens.

Every course also teaches what AI gets wrong: made-up facts, bias and privacy. The exercises use invented people and documents only.

Proof

Can I get an AI internship certificate?

Yes, as an optional extra. The internship itself stays free.

A certificate of completion is a paid, optional document issued by Wartens Ltd (UK). It has a QR code and a number, so anyone can verify it on edwartens.com/verification. It shows you finished the course. It does not promise work, and credit is your university's decision.

Questions

AI internship questions, answered

Is there a free AI internship for students with no experience?

Yes. All ten start from the first idea and are free to join. If you are new, begin with Generative AI and Prompt Engineering, or with one of the five that apply AI to a profession. None of those needs programming.

Is this a virtual AI internship?

Yes. It is online and self-paced, so you work from home on your own schedule. It is training, not employment, so there is no stipend and no work for a company is promised.

Which AI internship is best for a beginner?

Pick by your course. Computer science and IT students can start with AI and Machine Learning. Everyone else can start with Generative AI, or with the one named for their field: finance, HR, marketing, healthcare and pharma, or project management.

Do I need to pay for any AI tool?

No. Every tool is free or has a free tier, such as Google Colab, Google Sheets, Canva, n8n community edition and a free chat assistant. There is nothing to buy.

Can students who are not in engineering join?

Yes. The five internships named for a profession were written for students of commerce, management, HR, marketing, pharma and healthcare, with spreadsheets and a chat assistant instead of code.

How long do the AI internships take?

From 1 to 8 weeks for now. All eight weeks are open from day one, so a short plan moves fast and a longer one gives you room. The AI internships stop at eight weeks because their practice is worked exercises, not yet self-checking tasks.

What can I show someone afterwards?

Your worked exercises and the small piece you finish in week 8, such as a playbook, a report, a prompt library or an agent. You can also add a certificate. It is optional and paid, and anyone can verify it. It shows you completed the course, and it does not promise work.

Is it safe to use real data in the exercises?

No, and the course says so. The exercises use invented people, companies and documents. In the healthcare course you never need any patient information, and in the HR course you never paste real candidates' details into a public chatbot.

Can I do more than one AI internship?

Yes. You can plan any of them from the planner and all are free to join. Most students start with one so that each gets proper attention.
