What you need

  • A computer, tablet or phone with a current browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari)
  • An internet connection
  • Nothing to download
  • A Google account (any spreadsheet or document tool also works)

Open it

  1. 1.Open sheets.google.com and sign in with your Google account.

You should see: The Sheets home screen opens.

  2. 2.Choose New (the plus sign), or open sheets.google.com/create.

You should see: A new empty spreadsheet opens.

  3. 3.Type a title in the top left and a few words in cell A1.

You should see: Your text appears in the cell and the sheet saves itself.

Check that it works

  1. 1.Type 2 in A1, 3 in A2 and =A1+A2 in A3.

You should see: A3 shows 5.

If something goes wrong

I do not have a Google account.
Use any spreadsheet or document tool you already have, or paper. The exercises do not depend on one product.
A formula shows an error.
Check that it starts with = and that every bracket closes. Click the cell to read the message.
My changes are not saved.
Check your connection. Sheets saves as you type and shows a status near the title.

Leaving it

  • There is nothing to uninstall. To remove a file, move it to the bin in Google Drive.

Which internships use it

The first 4 weeks of every internship are free. This is training, not employment, and there is no stipend. All software guides.
